Clients I walk beside

Handwritten inspirational quote on yellow paint.

A Welcoming Space for Healing

At Turwitt Counseling, I walk beside humans seeking support, clarity, and healing — people finding their way, moving through colorful and complicated emotions, navigating stress, growing into their evolving selves, or healing from what still lingers.

This space is for anyone wanting to feel grounded, understood, and supported without pressure. Through conversation, creativity, or quiet reflection, we explore your story and move toward something steadier, wholesome, and brighter.

I walk with teens discovering who they are, adults rebuilding their sense of self, families strengthening connection, and anyone learning new ways to express what feels hard to say or do. Therapy here is collaborative, warm, and full of good energy — a place to grow at your own pace.

The Human Behind the Work

I’m Danielle Turwitt, LMHC, (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) with a BS in Psychological Research and a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

I became licensed in 2019 after four years of supervised clinical practice. I’ve worked in the mental health field for over a decade.

My experience includes inpatient behavioral health, IOP/PHP programs, adoption counseling, community mental health, and private practice.

I specialize in adoption‑focused and attachment‑centered care, supported by years of completing home studies, post‑placement reports, birth parent support, and adoption counseling.

I use evidence‑based approaches such as CBT, SFBT, narrative therapy, existential therapy, and Gottman‑informed family work.

I’ve presented at international conferences, spoken to graduate students, served on private practice panels,  delivered a keynote speech for graduating MS counseling cohorts and was voted Best of Clay County Counselor in 2022 and 2024.

Outside the therapy room, I’m a mother, a partner, and someone who values the small, steady moments that make life feel full. I love being outdoors — sailing, paddle boarding, hiking, gardening. I enjoy giving back through community involvement and volunteering. Creativity is a core part of my life, and I bring that same grounded, human energy into my work with clients.

The ache for home lives in all of us.” — Maya Angelou

I offer adoption‑informed, attachment‑focused care for adoptees, adoptive families, and anyone connected to adoption. Together, we explore identity, belonging, emotional layers, and the relationships that help people feel safe, understood, and grounded in their story.

Expressive therapy with evidence‑based CBT to help clients understand their thoughts, emotions, and patterns in a creative, engaging way. Clients can use art‑based modalities, movement, and expressive techniques alongside cognitive tools to identify what’s happening internally, challenge unhelpful thinking, and build healthier coping strategies.

“Play is the highest form of research.” — Albert Einstein

Play‑centered therapy helps teens and adolescents express themselves naturally, build emotional regulation skills, and navigate stress, identity shifts, school challenges, and social pressures. Sessions are engaging, developmentally attuned, and designed to meet young people exactly where they are — with curiosity, creativity, and safety.
